We go by metro to Vysehrad, which is a very beautiful area with several nice attractions. The castle Vysehrad was built in the 10th century, though today there are only ruins left. According to the legend Princess Libuše resided there. She was a prophet and predicted that Prague would have a great future, as well as she allegedly was the one who named the town. First we go to the viewing point, from where we have a fine look at the river Moldau and the Prague Castle.

Next we go to the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul from the 11th century. The interior is really worth visiting. Next to it is the National Cemetary placed, where almost all of the most famous, Czech personalities are buried. F. ex. the two greatest composers, Bedřich Smetana and Antonín Dvořak. We will tell you about three important persons, who are for different reasons not buried there, too.

The last stop on this tour will be the casemates. We will go down into the 330m2 big catacombs under the castle ruins. This hall was earlier used as a meeting room for the army, as well as it has been a store room for food and ammunition. Today six of the original statues from the Charles Bridge are kept there. The premises are used for exhibitions and exclusive theatre shows, too.
