The Temelín Nuclear Power Plant is the country's largest, located in the village of Temelín in South Bohemia. Construction began in 1985, and when it was completed in 2002, it became one of the last completed nuclear power plants in Europe.

In the spring of 2003, the power plant with a capacity of 2000 MW became the Czech Republic's largest source of energy.

The Visitor Center at the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant (AKV) offers visitors an opportunity to learn about how a nuclear power plant works through computer demonstrations and animations. You can test your knowledge with a quiz and see models of actual equipment from different parts of the power plant. You will have the opportunity to see a nuclear reactor up close and try to lower the control rods all the way to the bottom. You can also experience where natural ionizing radiation is found and discover what "yellowcake" is. You can take a selfie from the reactor hall as a souvenir (not the real reactor, but a model on display).

The tour itself is a virtual tour of the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant, where you sit in a cinema hall and put on special glasses that transport you to the most interesting and well-guarded areas of the plant, accompanied by an experienced guide. See a cloud chamber that fascinates all ages. Visitors can try virtual reality glasses in the cinema hall for a realistic and authentic experience.

The presentations are adapted to the age of the group, with more technical interpretations for universities and technically oriented companies.

Temelín AKV is the largest power plant in the Czech Republic, located approx. 24 km from České Budějovice. Construction started in 1987, and the plant now has two operating units.
